Description
This innocent little bug was sitting on the windowsill
Status: This Jurassic-era insect was once widespread across North America but disappeared from the eastern part of the continent by the 1950s for unknown reasons.
Location: Its last known stronghold is in western North America. However, it is still an incredibly rare sight. Most recent sightings have been in other areas like Arkansas, and it is most likely found in cooler, forested, mountainous habitats.
Appearance: With a wingspan of up to 2 inches, it is much larger than the more common green lacewings.
Habitat: While not specifically documented in Zion, the park's forested, riparian areas in its higher elevations could potentially offer a suitable habitat.
